At approximately 17:24pm 23 April 2017, Netcare 911 responded to a shooting in Newlands, Johannesburg.
Netcare 911 and other emergency medical services arrived on the scene where they found a woman believed to be middle aged with a serious gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics resuscitated the patient and rushed her to hospital in a stable but critical condition for further medical care.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not yet known, but police attended the scene and were investigating.
