Police are investigating an inquest docket and attempted hijacking after a hijacker was shot and killed by the owner of the house in Frederick Beyer Road on the night of 13 June 2020, at about 20:00.

It is alleged that the suspects’ car followed a woman driving an Audi A4 until where the road ended, she then noticed that the gate was left open at Frederick Beyer Road. She drove inside the yard and hooted for help.

The vehicle of the suspects followed her and stopped outside the yard, one suspect jumped out of the vehicle with a gun and approached her car, knocked on the window with the firearm and instructed her to open the car. She then opened the door and climbed out of the vehicle with her hands up.

A suspect jumped into the victim’s vehicle and drove away with it. There was gunshot, at first she didn’t know where the shots were coming from, she only realized after everything was quiet that it was the owner of the house shooting at the suspects and fatally wounded the one in her car. The others who were in the car managed to drive away.

Police were called and the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The Provincial management has urged the community to continue to work with the police to fight crime by calling Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or by giving a tip-off on the MySAPS app as police are still searching for two suspects who got away at the scene.
