While Pretoria burns, the shops are being looted. The violent protests around Pretoria continue to dominate the day. The CBD is not affected by the looting that has began as protesters take to stealing while destroying the city.
It is mainly the foreign owned shops that are targeted in the affected areas, including Mamelodi, Attridgeville, Hannanskraal and Soshanguve. It is not only shops that are under siege from the raging crowd, burnt vehicles are also being stripped for scrap metal and other parts.
The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) have a media blackout on protests and today they are reporting inaccuracies and untruths on the violence engulfing Pretoria. The SABC are not showing any visuals.
