The concerted efforts of the police in Gauteng to fight crime in the province continue to yield positive results through weekly operations dubbed Operation O Kae Molao.

The operations are conducted simultaneously every weekend throughout the five districts in the province.

This weekend the operation saw over 1,800 suspects being arrested for different crimes. The detectives through their tracing operations, arrested 822 suspects wanted for committing serious offences such as murder, attempted murder, rape, Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, sexual offences and armed robbery amongst others.

On 15 April 2023, the Provincial O Kae Molao was held at Bronkhorstspruit and Ekangala under the leadership of the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Crime Detection, Major General Mbuso Khumalo.

During this operation, nine illegal liquor outlets were closed down and owners were given fines while drugs such as crystal meth, tik and mandrax tablets were seized and suspects were arrested for contravening the Immigration Act and committing various crimes.

The District Commissioners in four other districts also conducted different crime prevention operations within their policing precincts in ensuring that the inhabitants of this province are and feel safe.
