The man who blew R750 million of Tshwane taxpayer money, the City Manager Moeketsi Mosola, is set to stay.
This is just another blow for accountability and the long suffering taxpayer in Tshwane.
And the three mayor political parties – the DA, ANC and EFF are equally to blame.
On Tuesday the new DA mayor in Tshwane , Stevens Mokgalapa, was on the Karima Brown show on Radio 702 and said Mosola is going nowhere . He said he lacks the power to remove him as the removal of the City Manager can only be achieved with the backing of the majority of Council members and that the ANC and EFF previously blocked efforts by the DA to remove Mosola.
This is actually true but the DA mayor also left out some crucial facts.
It was the previous DA mayor Solly Msimanga who appointed Mosola in January 2017 in what was clearly a deal with the EFF to secure their backing for a DA mayor to be appointed the previous year.
Msimanga lied to the public and the people who voted for him and kept the true reasons for Mosola’s appointment hidden. Msimanga tore up the shortlist and appointed Mosola, a man who never worked in local government before.
The DA and their supporters hailed the appointment of Mosola as an example of how they would always appoint the best man for the job and described Mosola as an example of black exellence in management.
This writer has seen the writing of Mosola on his FB page and it looks like a primary school kid’s writing.
Msimanga clearly misled the DA voters and appointed an EFF stooge who was clearly appointed to manipulate tenders so that kickbacks could flow to the EFF.
I am also astounded that the media could be so quiet about this scandal .It was R750 million blown on mere consultancy services!
So who is to blame ? Mosola is clearly an EFF stooge but it was the DA who appointed him in a dirty political deal with the EFF. The ANC should rather keep quiet because they had their chance to vote with the DA to remove Mosola but they did not do it.
And no Mr and Mrs DA supporter .You dont get to call this fake news as it has become your normal knee jerk reaction to call everything fake news.
Carry on like this and you might look at your election results and also think that is fake news when you dip far beneath your previous levels of support.

” The mayor disclosed that almost R500 000 had been paid to GladAfrica since it entered into a contract with the city in November 2017.
Mokgalapa further said it was anticipated that at the end of the 2018/19 financial year, an additional R250m would have been incurred.
The ANC claimed the city paid GladAfrica R250m as a golden shake. “
