Police in Gauteng are profiling two suspects who might be involved or wanted for serious and violent crimes. The two suspects were found in possession of three unlicensed firearms, two rifles, one pistol and ammunition during a crime prevention foot patrol in Booysens Streets on 24 June 2019, at about 13:30.

During the foot patrol police noticed five men who looked suspicious and they were intercepted. Two suspects were immediately arrested after they were found in possession of two rifles inside the bag while the other three fled.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had just jumped out of a BMW. Police searched the vehicle and one pistol was recovered inside the car. The firearms will be sent for ballistic examination to establish if they can be linked to any outstanding serious and violent crimes.

The suspects will be profiled to determine if they were not involved in other cases. Gauteng police management commended the police officers for continuing to conduct stop and search in the streets of Gauteng.

The arrested suspects will appear in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court within 48 hours.
