Police intelligence observation and thorough investigation led to the arrest of six vehicle theft suspects and the recovery of a Toyota Hilux reported to have been stolen. The vehicle was stolen outside the offices of the Department of Agriculture in Acardia, Pretoria on 21 February 2018.

Police followed up on information and the vehicle was found parked in Leondale, Germiston, with no occupant/s. The team that comprised of SAPS Pretoria K9 Unit, Gauteng Traffic Saturation Unit and Tracker Connect Investigation Department kept observation.

The suspects were spotted getting into the stolen vehicle and drove off.

The police intercepted the vehicle at the main road and six suspects were arrested. An identity document belonging to the rightful owner of the car was found in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects will be profiled in order to establish if they can be linked to any other hijacking and theft cases in the province.

The arrested suspects will be charged with possession of stolen vehicle and will appear in court soon.
