On 25 April 2018, at approximately 17:30 two tourists from the USA stopped next to the road on the N14 and Malibongwe offramp towards Krugersdorp and Nooitgedacht Muldersdrift.
They pulled into the yellow lane to check the GPS coordinates when they were approached by two unknown suspects, one armed with a firearm.
They robbed them of two cell phones, a laptop and handbag.
The suspect with the firearm then fired a shot through the drivers window and hit the passenger in the leg.
The suspects were disturbed by a passing motorist and fled the scene.
