One woman was killed and another critically injured in the early hours of yesterday morning along the R511 on the outskirts of Gerhardsville.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene shortly after 00h00 the find a light motor vehicle on the side of the road. Numerous members of the local authorities were found on the scene.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the driver, a woman in her 50s, had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead.
The passenger, a woman in her 50s, was also assessed and found to have sustained a gunshot wound to her upper leg and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated the woman and provided her with pain relief medication before she was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
