On Thursday afternoon Emer-G-Med paramedics drove onto a shooting incident on the N1 North towards the Buccleuch Interchange, in Sunninghill.

It’s believed that the police were chasing a vehicle involved in a house robbery in Roodekrans when the suspects opened fire.

A shootout between police and the suspects ensued, which resulted in the two suspects being shot. One suspect was shot in the chest and was in a critical condition, requiring Advanced Life Support care. The second suspect sustained only minor injuries.

There were heavy delays on the N1 North and South between Rivonia and the Buccleuch Interchange due to police investigations.
