A tornado hit the Tembisa Mall and Clinic this afternoon, causing havoc and significant damage. Benoni and Springs were also affected by the tornado. Reports state that the tornado is moving toward Leandra.
Several roofs have collapsed, properties have been destroyed and several people have sustained injuries. Motor vehicles including ambulances have been damaged by the severe weather conditions. Gauteng Department of Health says Tembisa Tertiary Hospital has also been affected by the tornado that ripped into the area.
