The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Community Liaison Unit (CLU) Officers, intercepted three (3) male suspects following a high speed chase in Alberton.
While patrolling the area, Officers spotted a suspicious white golf with three (3) occupants, upon stopping the vehicle, the suspects sped off and a high speed chase ensued.
With the assistance of the Intervention Unit Officers and other security personnel, the suspects were cornered on the R554. The suspects between the ages of thirty (30) and forty (40) years, were found in possession of multiple sophisticated tools , including key coders, computer boxes, eight different vehicle keys, and car jammers.
The trio were arrested and detained at the Alberton Police Station, facing charges of possession of car breaking implements and an additional charge of reckless and negligent. They are expected to appear at the Magistrate’s Court soon.
