Three Mozambican nationals, aged between 32 and 37, were arrested on Monday, 16 June 2025, in Kingsway, Springs, after being found in possession of dismantled motorcycles allegedly destined for Mozambique. One of the motorcycles had been reported stolen in Cosmo City, Johannesburg.

The arrest followed a tip-off received by Crime Intelligence about individuals in possession of suspected stolen motorcycles in the Kingsway area. According to the information, the suspects had dismantled two motorcycles, wrapped them, and were preparing to transport them to Mozambique.

A joint operation between Crime Intelligence and Ekurhuleni District Crime Prevention units was launched to intercept the suspects. Upon arriving at the address, officers found two individuals covering a silver Linex Yamaha Jet Ski and loading it into a trailer.

One suspect attempted to flee upon seeing the police but was swiftly apprehended. Authorities discovered two dismantled motorbikes wrapped in black refuse bags, ready to be loaded into a white Toyota Hilux that was hooked to the trailer.

Preliminary investigations confirmed that one of the motorcycles had been reported stolen in Cosmo City earlier this month. Police suspect that additional individuals may be involved in the syndicate.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover further connections to the alleged theft ring.
