On 17 January 2022, the third escapee, Bafeletse Nyembe, handed himself over to the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court. This after he has been on the run from the police since his escape from lawful custody on Friday, 14 January 2022 in Boksburg.

Nyembe has appeared in court on a charge of theft as well as an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody. He has been remanded in custody and he will appear again in court on 27 January 2022.

Nkomo and Hlatswayo have also appeared in court for business robbery, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm as well as escaping from lawful custody.

They have been remanded in custody and are due in court again on 27 January 2022.

The manhunt for the remaining three fugitives continues.
