On Friday, 13 May 2022 the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court sentenced 26-year-old Rukombo Dumisani to seven years’ imprisonment and 34-year-old Toppy Adbest to five years imprisonment for tampering with essential infrastructure and contravention of Section 103 of the Immigration Act 60 of 2000.

On Tuesday, 2 July 2019, a security officer responded to a complaint of tampering with essential infrastructure at Kempton Park train station.

Upon arrival Dumisani and Adbest were found in possession of copper cables, a core and breaking implements; they were then subsequently arrested.

The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant Tebogo Modika who immediately pieced all the evidence together. Modika’s meticulousness and dedication resulted in the successful conviction of the two accused.
