When a taxi ignored a red robot on Saturday morning 30 November 2019, at the corner of Isando road and Electro lane, Isando, Gauteng province, two cyclists, Janine Hopkins and Frans Duys were killed. They were out cycling on a tandem bicycle at the time of the incident.

A fellow cyclist called for medical assistance that took a long time to arrive. It was further reported that the taxi driver removed his number plates at one stage. Hopkins passed away on the scene and Duys passed away shortly after arriving at hospital.

The Police were on scene but did not arrest the taxi driver who later left.
