Police visibility, Vehicle Control Point (VCP), Detectives Tracing of wanted suspects were conducted around the policing area.

One of the VCP was conducted at the T-Junction of Akasia Road and R23 Heidelberg and Balfour Road near Rensburg suburb. During the VCP, 500 crime hints pamphlets on Car and Truck hijackings were distributed to the motorists and passengers.

A silver Opel Corsa sedan was pulled off. Police searched occupants and the motor vehicle. There were 3 sports bags and a grocery back in the car. When Police opened the bags, it was detected that the bags were containing 95 compacted blocks or bricks of dagga with estimated street value of R30 000-00. Two Swazi Nationals aged 24 years were arrested for dealing in dagga.

A 36 year old pedestrian was also arrested after he was searched and found with box of matches containing dagga wrapped by a piece of newspaper.During the VCP, 23 motor vehicles, 73 persons were searched and 1 truck was discontinued and a fine was issued to the driver.

She further acknowledged the presence or assistance from the Ekurhuleni East Cluster Crime Prevention Team. The arrested suspects will appear before Heidelberg Magistrate Court soon.
