Suspects shot son (16) after following family from bank

Suspects shot a 16-year-old on Thursday, March 2. The father and his two sons went to the ABSA bank in Pretoria-North to withdraw cash. A substantial amount of cash was withdrawn and while they were traveling back to their smallholding, noticed that they were being followed.

At the gate to the entrance of the smallholding, which housed three different homes, the father began to hoot incessantly hoping to alert the people to stay indoors and remove the children to safety.

There were three suspects in the car that was following the family and two were armed with 9mm pistols. The 16-year-old son who was sitting behind his father was shot in his right knee. The father suffered minor injuries from a bullet narrowly missing him.

The suspects fled without taking any money.

The community and police responded to the incident and the victim transferred to hospital.
