Suspects arrested for possession of face value paper which was stolen at the Tshwane Licencing Station

Suspects arrested for possession of face value paper which was stolen at the Tshwane Licencing Station

The Gauteng Traffic Wardens Saturation Task Team in the Northern Corridor together with the Tshwane Metro Police Department’s (TMPD) Information Gathering Unit and the South African Police Service responded to information from the National Intervention Unit (NIU) about face value paper which was stolen at the Tshwane Licencing Station and a man who was in possession of the face value paper.

Acting swiftly, the officials condcuted an operation which led them to a man at the Marlboro Testing Station who was found in possession of face value documents in a green VW Jetta. The law enforcement members then obsevered the man who went out of the testing station after he was done with his client. Members then followed his vehicle and stopped him, a search was conducted and the face value papers were found inside his vehicle.

The man led the officials to the alleged supplier in the Johannesburg CBD who was swiftly apprehended despite his attempt to flee into a shop nearby. Members caught the suspect inside the shop and found another male suspect who was inside the shop.

The officers found these exhibits following a search at the premises:

  • 02 x Stamps of City of Johannesburg
  • 40 x Blank face value document
  • 27 x BZ printed face value papers
  • 135 x face value papers with different serial numbers
  • 01 x Laptop bag
  • 01 x Black record book
  • 01 x Memory stick
  • 04 x Cut license disks
  • 01 x Samsung Cell phone

Both suspects were detained at the Johannesburg CBD police station, and all recovered items have been booked in for further investigation.
