A 24-year-old foreign national is set to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court today, Wednesday, 01 October 2025, after a significant drug bust by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The arrest was made on Tuesday, 30 September 2025, by members of the SAPS Florida and West Rand K9 units. The operation led them to a car wash in Florida, where the suspect was apprehended for contravening the Drug Trafficking Act No. 140 of 1992.
During the operation, police seized a substantial quantity of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R600,000. Additionally, three cellphones and R2,200 in cash were confiscated.
In a statement, the SAPS reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug networks and safeguarding communities from the scourge of substance abuse.
“This operation demonstrates our determination to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety,” the statement read.
The suspect will face a charge of dealing in drugs.
