Katlehong Crime Prevention members early this morning, 6 September 2018, arrested a 28 year old man at Mngadi Section in Katlehong for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Katlehong Crime Prevention members were conducting their daily stop and search operation when they come across a man whom they spotted at Mngadi Section. Police requested to search him. During the search the police seized a 9mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition, with its serial number erased.
The man failed to produce a firearm license on demand. Police arrested him and detained in Katlehong police cells.
The firearm seized will be taken to ballistics for further investigation. Suspect will be charged with possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The suspect is expected to appear in Palm Ridge court soon.
