On January 10, 2017 a man (34) was arrested by Erasmia Crime Prevention Team after police received a tip-off about a man who was seen carrying a firearm at his place of residence.
The Community of Mooiplaas directed the Police to a shack where the man fitting the description of the suspect was found.
Upon searching the shack, the members found a firearm hidden inside the refrigerator.
Upon questioning, the suspect could not account for nor could he produce a firearm license and he was immediately arrested by the officers.
A case of possession of unlicensed firearm was opened at Erasmia SAPS for further investigation.
