At about 15:15 yesterday, members of Kempton Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit received a complaint of three people who are stripping a White Toyota Double Cab Bakkie (pickup truck).
Upon arrival at the identified premises, the suspects started shooting at the police and the police retaliated. Two suspects jumped into the Toyota Bakkie and one suspect jumped into a Toyota Verso. The Police managed to arrest one suspect who attempted to escape in the Toyota Verso. His two accomplices in the double cab escaped. Police investigations continue.
It was later discovered that the Toyota Double Cab bakkie was stolen at OR Tambo International Airport earlier during the day.
The arrested suspect is 29 years old and will be appearing at Kempton Park Magistrates Court soon.
