Members of the K9 Unit apprehended a 48-year-old male for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition at a Supermarket corner Claim and Plein Street on 8 September 2022 at 11:00.

Police were busy with Operation Okae Molao when they saw a suspicious male standing at the entrance of the shop; when he saw a police vehicle he went inside the shop.

Police jumped out of the vehicle and found the security guard in the guard room. They searched him and recovered unlicensed firearm with no serial number and live rounds.

The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other serious and violent crimes.

An investigation is underway and suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.

Johannesburg Central Station Commander, Brigadier Perumal commended good work done by the police in the apprehension of a suspect and confiscation of unlicensed firearm.
