The swift response by members of Pretoria Central SAPS led to the successful arrest of the two suspects aged 43 and 30 in Marabastad, Pretoria.
It is alleged that on the 28 April 2020, late in the afternoon three African males armed with firearms entered a Supermarket in Boom Street. The suspects pointed firearms and threaten the shop owner, assaulted staff members and demanded cash and cellphones.
Pretoria Central patrol vehicle was alerted, and swiftly responded to the scene. When these suspects noticed police they fired shots.
In the process one suspect was shot and was taken to the hospital under police guard and he is in a stable condition. While one suspect was arrested and one managed to flee the scene with undisclosed amount and cellphones.
During the arrest police confiscated two firearms and ammunition, which will be taken for ballistic assessment to established if the firearms were not previously used in other serious crimes.
The two suspects will appear in court for business robbery, assault, possession of an unlicensed firearms and possession of ammunition.
Investigation is ongoing in this case.
Pretoria Central SAPS, Brigadier Moses Dladla commended police for quick response and well executed arrest with no fear.
