Striking miners: SAPS to launch crime reaction team, Carletonville

The Minister of Police Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner General Sitole will on Tuesday 2 April 2019, launch the Crime Combating and Reaction Team in Blybank in the West Rand, following the protracted labour related strike action by mine workers in Merafong Local Municipality and surrounding areas.

Minister Cele returns to the area as a follow-up to the recent inter-ministerial intervention by Police Minister Bheki Cele, Department of Mineral Resources, Minister Gwede Mantashe and Department of Labour, Minister Mildred Oliphant.

The launch forms part of the broader strategy to fight crime through enhancing policing and community relations, and to further ensure that the community of Merafong returns to normality.
