SPCA looses medicine and food supplies due to power outages, Kempton Park

The FF Plus paid a visit to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Spartan, Kempton Park, after receiving reports that the SPCA branch was forced to dispose of all its frozen and refrigerated foodstuffs as well as expensive medicine and vaccines after a power outage in the area that lasted a few days.

The Ekurhuleni Metro Council is in the process of upgrading the outdated power network, which the former ANC government in the Metro did not maintain properly. Last year, the Metro was frequently plagued by power outages.

The SPCA, which cares for hundreds of animals, spent R6000 on procuring the necessary medicine and vaccines last week. The loss of food and medicine is a tremendous blow seeing as the SPCA has no sponsors.

Even the food of the employees who live on the premises was spoiled.

The FF Plus is calling on the community to support its local SPCA by donating funds and non-perishable food for the employees.

Donations can also be made via the SPCA’s webpage: Kempton Park SPCA: Kempton Park SPCA (kemptonspca.co.za)
