A group of suspects targeted a G4S vehicle while it was collecting cash in the Randfontein CBD.

It is alleged that the two guards received the cash at Best Buy Wholesalers on 3 November 2016 at approximately 17:00. As they allegedly left the shop they were physically attacked. The one guard was grabbed and shot in the leg. He was disarmed and the shop owner realized that a robbery was in progress.

A shootout ensued when the shopkeeper and G4s retaliated. A second G4S guard was also wounded. A female pedestrian was wounded in the leg during the shootout.

The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. They allegedly drove away in two vehicles, a black BMW and a white Volkswagen Golf.

The injured parties were treated on the scene and transported to local hospitals.

The Randfontein Station Commander, Brigadier Manamela expressed his concern and dismay with this incident.

“It is unfortunate that innocent people were injured. We pray for their speedy recovery. No stone will be left unturned in the tracing and ultimate arrest of the suspects.” Said Brigadier Manamela.
