Police under the command of the Tshwane and West Rand District Commissioners, Major General Daniel Mthombeni and Major General Fred Kekane, continue to clean up the streets of Tshwane and Westrand by leading the raiding of wanted suspects on 2 May 2019, to ensure that the criminals are out of the streets.

The multidisciplinary operation led to the arrest of forty three wanted suspects. The operations focused mostly on the suspects wanted for serious and violent crimes such as rape, robbery, hijackings, possession of unlicensed firearms, dealing in drugs and murder.

During the operations four liquor outlets were closed and eight second hand goods dealerships also closed in Tshwane.

Two suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs.

The law enforcement agencies in West Rand arrested 13 suspects for various cases. Two suspects for hijackings and the other two for possession of drugs. Nine of the arrested suspects in West Rand were found in possession of gold bearing materials.

The Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the police officers for continuing putting the people of Gauteng first by hunting and arresting the wanted suspects who have been on the run.

The arrested suspects will appear at Krugersdorp and Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday 6 May 2019.
