Serious and violent crimes: 138 Wanted suspects arrested, Gauteng

Various law enforcement agencies led by the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela continue to clean up the streets of Gauteng by raiding of wanted suspects as early as 04:00 on the morning of 20 June 2019. This is to ensure that wanted criminals are brought to book.

Roadblocks were held in Hammanskraal, Temba and Makapane. Stop and searches were conducted on roads in and around the area.

The multidisciplinary operation led to the arrest of 138 wanted suspects. The operations focused mostly on the suspects wanted for serious and violent crimes such as rape, robbery, hijackings, dealing in drugs and murder.

Police closed three illegal liquor outlets, one second hand goods dealership also closed, five motor vehicles were impounded, R13 250 fines issued to the motorists and 21 undocumented foreign nationals were arrested.

Meanwhile in the other areas of Gauteng, two suspects were arrested for murder of a Doctor in East Gate building in Hillbrow, two other suspects were arrested in Doornkop, Soweto for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle. Drugs and liquor were confiscated during the operations.

The arrested suspects will appear in various Magistrate Courts soon.
