On Friday, 4 November 2022, the West Rand based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team received an intelligence report from Crime Intelligence that there was an individual who was allegedly peddling explosives and ammunition.

The investigators followed up on Monday armed with a search and seizure warrant.

The targeted suspect was encountered at President Square, Fochville where he offered to sell explosives.

The said explosives were kept in a vehicle that was parked nearby and when the team pounced, another suspect who was in the vehicle was also arrested.

The resultant search carried out with the Explosives Unit uncovered more explosives which were seized along with six cellphones and identity documents.

The court remanded the trio in custody.

They are expected back in court on 23 November 2022 to apply for bail.
