At 11H40 Wednesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting on Aitken Street in Halfway House, Midrand.
Reports from the scene indicate that a male approximately 30-years-old sustained multiple gun shot wounds to both his arms and chest.
It was reported that the security guard went to investigate a group of suspicious men when an altercation broke out and he was shot.
The patient was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner and once stabilized was transported in a critical condition to hospital for further assessment and care.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown however all necessary authorities were on scene to investigate.
