At about 20:44 on 12 June 2019, EPR reaction officer, Christo Myburgh attended an alarm at a premises in Millstreet, Boltonia, Krugersdorp. Myburgh reviewed the premises, and with his return to the EPR vehicle he was surprised and overpowered by three armed suspects that could possibly be ‘Zama-Zamas’.
The suspects opened fire on Myburgh, he tried to get distance between himself and his attackers and sought cover but was shot three times in the top-leg and pelvis area after which the attackers fled.
He was able contact the centre per radio and assistance arrived within minutes. Myburgh is transport to the Milpark hospital for treatment, where he is currently in ICU, but out of danger.
