A brutal farm attack took place in Kalkheuwel, on the Gauteng/NorthWest border on Friday evening, 2 November 2018, at about 21:15. The Drift Reaction control centre received an alarm signal from the premises. The dedicated Tactical vehicles were dispatched and while on their way, a worker from the premises phoned and said something was wrong at the main house.
The teams found an injured man and his wife. He was bleeding from his head as the suspects had beaten him with a rock. He told the Drift Reaction cc teams that they were sitting outside when four suspects, one armed with a big caliber firearm (we suspect it might be a 44 cal) came around the corner of the house.
They jumped up to run into the house. Their little Jack Russell attacked the suspects and the suspect shot the little fighter in his right leg! They started assaulting the couple with rocks and crowbars and ransacked the house. They fled with expensive items as well as cash and a hunting rifle.
Although the couple were injured they said they would prefer to go to hospital by themselves. They were really traumatised and attended to their injured Jack Russell. An armed guard at the house for the remainder of the night.
