Ekurhuleni East Cluster SAPS was busy conducting Operation Buya Mthetho in the Springs policing precinct today when members received a complaint of a shooting in progress at Ermelo Road in Springs.
The police without any hesitation rushed to the crime scene and found security guards pointing out two armed suspects who were hiding in the mealie field.
The SAPS K9 Unit and Air Wing was summoned to the scene to assist in tracing the suspects.
Two suspects were arrested, both aged 18 years and the hijacked vehicle, a Toyota Etios was recovered. Upon further investigation it was established that the vehicle was hijacked in Soweto.
A case of hijacking was opened and the suspects will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
