On Wednesday 28 June 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to reports that a man had sustained serious injuries after being struck by a front-end loader in Lloyd Street, near to the train station in Pretoria.

Reports from the scene indicate that the 46-year-old man, who apparently obtained a silver medal in this year’s Comrades Marathon, was out training this morning when the incident occurred.

The runner sustained several injuries to his mid-body and to his left arm and was attended to by a Netcare 911 Advanced Life Support Paramedic.

He injuries were very serious, pain medication was administered to manage his pain and he was transported by ambulance under the constant care of the paramedic to the hospital for further assessment and care.
