A police officer based at the Railway police was involved in a shooting incident with a suspect who had been involved in a business robbery at about 17:30 on 17 January 2018 at Walmarts and Simmons streets, Braamfontein.
This follows after the suspect shot and wounded three members of the community who tried to apprehend him.
A police officer was shot and wounded in the upper body and taken to hospital.
One member of the public died on arrival at the clinic. Two others were taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspect managed to flee on foot.
Police investigations continue.
