Three armed suspects were arrested following a shooting incident on 2 September 2019, at about 09:30 on the R23, just after Overkruin, before you join N3 direction to Johannesburg. It is alleged that the suspects shot at a Ford Bantam which was passing them.

No injuries were sustained. The suspects then abandoned their grey Range Rover after the shooting incident and fled on foot.

When the police arrived on the scene, the eye witnesses showed officers the direction that the suspects took off in. Officers pursued the suspects and arrested three men. Four firearms as well as explosives were recovered after the vehicle was searched.

The suspects were linked with a business robbery in Ratanda.
