A Multi-disciplinary takedown operation resulted in the arrest of four suspected drug dealers aged between 27 and 42 in Hillbrow, Gauteng on Friday, 11 October 2019.

This follows an intensive investigation that ensued in Limpopo, responding to a public outcry concerning the mushrooming of drugs in the area leading to the arrest of the kingpins in Gauteng province.

A joint team led by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, Limpopo Tracking Team, Priority Crime Specialised Investigation, Provincial Organised Crime unit, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (Special Task Force), Tracker South Africa and MAGMA Security Company, abruptly pounced on the suspects at their flat in Hillbrow.

During the takedown, police seized a sizeable amount of drugs with the estimated street value of over R1.5 million, two drug mixers, two scales, two laptops, and an undisclosed amount of cash.

All the suspects are expected to appear at the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 October 2019 to face charges relating to dealing in drugs.

More arrests can be expected pending the on-going investigation into the mushrooming of illegal drugs.
