South African Police Service Tshwane District held a two day inner-city operation under the banner of “Okae Molao”. Brooklyn, Pretoria Central and Sunnyside policing areas were identified to enhance crime prevention awareness, eradicate crimes conducted from bad buildings.

The purpose will further be to provide an integrated approach to ensure that the community in Tshwane feel safe by enhancing crime free policing precinct. Meanwhile to inspect Second Hand Goods, food outlets and liquor outlets.

The two day multidisciplinary operation led to the arrest of twenty seven suspects for crimes such as possession of drugs and possession of stolen property.

Furthermore one hundred and two buildings were searched, more than seven hundred and eighty people searched, 490 vehicles searched and three liquor outlets were shut down.

In one of the business premises police confiscated illicit cigarettes and food that have long reached expired date. Fines were issued for non-compliance of second hand goods act and liquor confiscated.

Tshwane District Commissioner Major General Mthombeni thanked all stakeholders and Tshwane Metro Police Service for their continued partake and dedication towards reduction of crime in Tshwane.

All suspects are scheduled to appear at various magistrate courts in Tshwane on future dates.
