The law enforcement agencies in Gauteng under the Command of Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela are out in numbers to deal with any criminal activities and ensure that the citizens are safe and protected as they conduct a night Operation with the main focus being at hostels.

It is conducted simultaneously through three districts in Gauteng; Ekurhuleni, Tshwane and Johannesburg and comprises of different law enforcement agencies from SAPS, Metro Police Department, Traffic Department, Department of Home Affairs and private security companies.

The operation include several actions such as hostel raiding, stop and searches at hot spots, liquor compliance inspections and tracing of wanted suspects by the detectives.

The operation started at 22:00 and two stolen trailers have been recovered, an unlicensed firearm with ammunition, dangerous weapons and copper cable were seized at Ehlazeni hostel in Tembisa.
