EKURHULENI, Gauteng — A massive police manhunt is currently underway for suspected cash-in-transit robbery suspects linked to a string of serious and violent crimes across Gauteng. The intensified operation follows a strategic raid on a suspected safe house in Daveyton, where authorities uncovered a significant cache of weapons and stolen property, though the primary targets managed to evade capture.
Acting on crucial intelligence, law enforcement officers descended on the residence in Daveyton, located on the East Rand, on Wednesday evening. During a thorough search of the premises, police recovered seven rifles, one pistol, high-visibility reflector jackets, and a hijacked BMW. Despite the successful seizure of these critical items, the suspects were not present at the location.
Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that an overnight manhunt is actively in progress to trace and apprehend the known individuals who fled the scene. The operation highlights the ongoing, aggressive efforts by provincial authorities to dismantle organized criminal syndicates operating in the region.
Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane commended the highly coordinated efforts of all law enforcement agencies involved in the tactical operation. She issued a stern warning to those involved in cash-in-transit robberies, stating unequivocally that their days are numbered.
Emphasizing the severity of the threat, Lieutenant General Dimpane noted that cash-in-transit robberies are highly organized and violent crimes that demand a unified and robust response from law enforcement.
“Our intelligence capabilities continue to improve, and we are closing in on those responsible,” Lieutenant General Dimpane stated. “We will hunt them down, arrest them, and ensure they face the full might of the law.”
Investigations remain highly active, and authorities have indicated that further arrests are expected as the manhunt for the cash-in-transit robbery suspects intensifies across the province.
