Police in Gauteng recover more than 500 unlicensed firearms

Police in Gauteng recover more than 500 unlicensed firearms

The Gauteng police have made significant strides in combating crime, recovering 556 unlicensed firearms and 6,973 rounds of ammunition between 1 April and 23,2025. The recovered firearms include: Automatic rifles, complete firearms, revolvers/pistols, rifles and shotguns. Some with serial numbers filed off

These recoveries resulted from proactive policing efforts, including patrols, crime prevention initiatives, targeted operations, and searches.

The Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has commended the members involved for their dedication to public safety. “The police will continue to build on this momentum and remain committed to fighting crime, ensuring the safety and security of Gauteng communities”….
