Police constable stabbed and killed in Johannesburg

A police constable was stabbed and killed by a taxi driver in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Spokesman Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said Constable Matsie Jacob Manabile was stabbed on the upper body and died on arrival at a hospital on Sunday night.

“It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect had an argument, the suspect then took out a knife and stabbed the policeman who was off duty. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.”

The taxi driver was arrested at the scene. He is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to face a murder charge.

The off duty Manabile was stationed at Norkem Park SAPS.
