South African Police Service (SAPS) officers have arrested three suspects and thwarted a planned kidnapping targeting a local businessman following a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation.

The operation was initiated after Crime Intelligence Gauteng received information regarding a plot to abduct the target, who operates multiple businesses in the Rosslyn area. The intelligence was operationalized and acted upon by SAPS members from the Soshanguve and Akasia precincts.

Acting on the intelligence, police conducted a coordinated interception and apprehended three suspects, aged between 29 and 31, while they were en route to execute the crime.

During the arrests, authorities seized a vehicle allegedly intended for use in the kidnapping. Additionally, police recovered two unlicensed firearms with their serial numbers filed off.
