The incident occurred on the afternoon of 15 March 2021, on the R23 whereby the Crime Prevention Unit spotted a white Mercedes Benz parked on the side of the road.
When members made a U-turn, they noticed another Mercedes Benz and a white Ford Ranger bakkie with all occupants outside of the vehicles. SAPS approached them but the occupants of both vehicles sped off.
Both vehicles were pursued until the Ford was cornered while the Mercedes sped off towards the direction of Benoni. All four occupants of the Ford Ranger were searched and found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and blue lights in front of the dashboard and a fitted police siren.
During the arrest, the suspects submitted a fraudulent permit to use blue lights.
All suspects aged 25, 28, 29 and 30 are expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 17 March 2021.
