Police are investigating the death of 11-year-old Jayden Lee Meek, whose body was discovered near his apartment complex in Fleurhof early Wednesday morning. The young boy had been missing since Tuesday afternoon after returning home from school.
Jayden was last seen being dropped off by his school transport around 3:30 p.m. His mother, who was working from home, expected him to enter their apartment but grew concerned when he failed to appear. After an hour, she initiated a search, sparking a community-wide effort to locate him.
Tragically, a resident found Jayden’s body near the apartment complex around 5:00 or 6:00 a.m. the next day. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. A family representative described severe injuries, including extensive bruising, bleeding from his mouth and ears, and signs of a violent assault.
Authorities have opened an inquest, and a specialized task team has been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding Jayden’s death. The community remains in shock as they await answers in this heartbreaking case.
