A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed last night when he was struck by a light motor vehicle at the Boom and Es’kia Mphahlele Drive in Marabastad in Pretoria on 13 June 2017.

ER24 paramedics were returning to their branch when they came across the incident at approximately 21h30.

On scene, paramedics found the body of a man lying in the middle of the road. The light motor vehicle that had allegedly hit the man was found parked at a filling station, approximately 100 meters away.

Paramedics assessed the pedestrian and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the light motor vehicle, a man in his 30s, was assessed by paramedics and found to have escaped injury but was visibly shaken.

The details leading up to the incident are not known at this time but local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
