Two suspects aged 54 and 57 appeared in the Pretoria Magistrates court for corruption and defeating the ends of justice following their arrest on the morning of 5 May 2021.

The couple were arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team after they allegedly received R500 000-00 gratification to conceal a rape of their daughter.

The alleged perpetrator Clifford Resandt (50) was arrested along with his wife Brigadier Rosy Resandt (46) in December 2020.

Clifford and Rosy Resandt allegedly received the funds to pay gratification to the victim’s parents from Prophet Sheperd Bushiri, the leader of the ECG church.

The Brigadier attached to the Organised Crime of the Detective Service, at Head Office and her husband were each released on R15 000-00.

All four suspects are expected to appear together in the same court on Thursday, 6 May 2021.
