EKURHULENI DISTRICT — More than 50 illegal immigrants were arrested during Operation Prosper in Springs, Ekurhuleni District, following a coordinated law enforcement effort. The integrated operation, conducted on Monday, 13 July 2026, specifically targeted the Gugulethu and Everest Informal Settlements to trace undocumented foreign nationals within the local policing precinct.

According to officials representing the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), the joint initiative involved systematic visits to various premises and identified enforcement hotspots throughout the area. During these targeted raids, individuals were formally requested to produce valid identification and legal immigration documentation.

Law enforcement spokespersons confirmed that the operation was executed to ensure strict adherence to national border and residency laws. Individuals found without the required legal documentation were promptly detained for contravening the Immigration Act.

Operation Prosper highlights the ongoing, collaborative commitment by SAPS and SANDF to maintain public order, uphold the rule of law, and ensure regulatory compliance within the Ekurhuleni District policing jurisdiction. Authorities have indicated that such integrated operations will remain a key strategy in addressing undocumented migration and associated security concerns in the region.
